The Spritz in Padova is a real institution.

Pratically you can’t take an aperitivo in Padova not being a spritz. It became a real ritual, with the top specially on Wednesday evening in Erbe Square, the evening of the university students.

This weekly event is so popular that it is creating problems with police intervention. Therefore in the center it is not allowed to give out any alcol after midnight.

It is impossible to find 2 bars or locals making in the same way the spritz and every host or barman keeps secret his own recipe. One makes the Srpitz with Aperol, another one with Campari, and who can’t decide gets both. One put in sparkly water, the next uses selz, who puts in another kind of alcol…everybody like he wants!

Recipe for preparation of Spritz Padovano:

  • ½ Prosecco or white wine
  • ½ sparkling mineral water  or seltz
  • a touch of Aperol, Gin and Cynar
  • a piece of lemon
