Sagra dei Osei – Birds festival in Cisano from 8th to 12th September 2016

This historic festival is always celebrated on 8th September, the Nativity of Mary, and since 1840 it takes place in Cisano di Bardolino on Lake Garda. Originally it was an exhibition of decoy birds for hunting and with time it became an important meeting place for hunters and farmers. Now are the decoy birds and songbirds, which attract especially the visitors. One highlight is the bird singing contest – Gara delle Primavere – on 8th of September at 6:30 in the picturesque setting of Parc Marzan, you can hear the calls of many different species of birds: blackbirds, song thrushes, larks, chaffinches, tree pipit, Redwings, goldfinches and many others. Another highlight is the birdsong competition also on 8th September but at 10:30 am where bird experts imitate with or without the aid of a whistle, bird calls. You should not miss also the part of the Sagra dei Osei made of the concerts, exhibitions, accompanying events and the local specialties at the food stands from the 8th till the 12th of September.
