With autumn comes the time of one of the most precious traditions of our territory: the olive harvest and the production of Garda DOP Olive Oil. November is the ideal month to discover this product up close, which is not only a condiment but a true symbol of Garda culture.

The cultivation of olives on the lake has very ancient origins: already in Roman times, the extraordinary qualities of oils produced along its shores were celebrated. Today, the Garda DOP label guarantees a unique and unmistakable style, linked to typical cultivars – Casaliva, Leccino, and Frantoio – and to the mild lake microclimate.

But what makes Garda DOP different from generic extra virgin olive oil?

The difference is perceived at the first taste: Garda DOP is more delicate and harmonious, with fresh notes of freshly cut grass, sweet almond, and sometimes green apple. It is elegant, light, and never overpowering, accompanying dishes without covering them, but rather enhancing their flavors.

The result is a refined extra virgin olive oil, perfect for dressing lake fish, white meats, fresh cheeses, or a simple bruschetta: a few gestures that capture all the essence of Garda. Tasting it “new”, freshly milled, means discovering a vibrant taste telling the territory immediately.

During your stay in Bardolino, you can visit local oil mills and experience firsthand the magic of pressing: from hand-harvested olives to the first warm drops of oil. An authentic experience bringing you back to the simplicity of ancient gestures.

At Hotel Campagnola, this bond with olive oil is even more special: starting this year, you can also taste our own “Buba’s Oil”, made from Garda olives and careful processing, bringing to the table a flavor speaking of home and nature.

Let yourself be conquered by the authentic taste of Garda.
