Valpolicella is a delightful spot in the hills just a few kilometers from Verona, nestling amidst Valdadige, Lessinia and the Veronese plain, not far from Lake Garda. As well as benefiting from an excellent climate, this area offers many ways of spending wonderful days of relaxation: splendid walks through verdand vineyards and the evocative natural and architectural beauty of a rich and generous land, an example of how history, cultural heritage, wines, typical produce and the painstaking work of mankind can come together to produce something unique and exciting to be enjoyed and shared with friends. Valpolicella is, of course, best known for its wines. The area known as “Valpolicela Classica” is the most ancient district of wine production of excellence of which the province of Verona can boast: in the 5th century b.C., history records Valpolicella as “Retia” and the wine produced there as “Retico”: a wine made from witheres grapes, renowned for its indisputably classic quality. Amarone is a close relative of Recioto: the colour is ruby red, the flavor fulsome, dry with a typical slightly bitter vein after fermentation. It’s not all about wine: there are countless agritourism establishments and restaurants in Valpolicella that are showcases of fine cuisine and the art of hospitality.
