The tragic love story of Romeo and Juliet is a legend, nobody knows whether they have really lived. However, there are many elements in every legend with references to places and historical events. Shakespeare was not the first who wrote about this sad story, he based his tragedy on some Italian versions which were very famous in Italy at that time. The house in Verona where the beautiful Juliet lived, probably dates from the 13th century, has a facade of burnt brick and wide trefoil window. The small marble balcony on which Julia appeared, reminiscent of the famous verses of the tragedy of Shakespeare, where Romeo declares his love for her. Her grave is located in an old monastery which was in that time outside the city walls.
